If you look at the bottom of our website, or see us out in high-vis gear managing a road closure, you might just see us as an event logistics company. But behind every business are real people with real stories. Today, I want to step away from traffic management plans and council compliance to tell you about a cause close to our hearts—and why we are incredibly proud to sponsor the England Kidney Transplant Football Team.
This isn’t just a generic corporate badge-slapping exercise for us. It’s personal.
Our Director, Ryan Child, actually plays for the squad. Back in 2022, Ryan underwent a life-saving kidney transplant. To go from a major organ transplant to getting back on a pitch is a massive mountain to climb in itself. But Ryan didn’t just lace his boots back up—he and the rest of the England team went out and won the European Championships!
From European Champions to the World Stage

To say we are proud sponsors is a massive understatement. Watching the team lift that European trophy was a powerful reminder of what resilience looks like. It is proof that a transplant isn’t the end of an active life; it’s a second chance to do what they all love.
But the journey doesn’t stop there.
The squad is currently training hard and packing their bags for the Transplant Football World Cup, taking place in Frankfurt, Germany. They will be competing against national teams from all over the globe, all unified by a shared bond: celebrating the incredible gift of organ donation through the game they love.
Why Community and Corporate Responsibility Matter to Us

When we started Captain Events, we decided that our business should reflect our values. We deal with safety, risk management, and looking after people on their worst days so they can enjoy their best days. Sponsoring this team aligns perfectly with that mission.
It takes a village to get a national team to an international tournament—from the medical staff and physical therapists to the families and community sponsors who back them. We are honored to play a small part in keeping that momentum going.
As the lads head off to Germany, the entire team here at Captain Events wants to wish Ryan and the rest of the England squad the absolute best of luck. We know how much grit it took to get here, and we know you’ll leave everything on the pitch.
